Figma Is Underrated
communicationAs a backend dev I should not use Figma everyday. But I do. It’s underrated as a communication tool. It’s a digital whiteboard, available anywhere, great for people who can’t draw straight lines or lefties with bad handwritting (me), and —the real value— you can duplicate, modify, and rearrange anything. I’ve used it to explain volleyball drills, teach juniors how we use git, and discuss software architecture.
But the greatest benefit is being able to duplicate, drag, and modify anything without worrying about arranging stuff on a page or slide. This can be fast enough that you can take notes on competing approaches mid-meeting, giving people a shared visual to communicate around.
And duplicate and zoom in to areas to focus on.
An important note for software stuff is that it’s just a drawing. Changes happen. The map isn’t the territory, but it can be useful.
I use it a lot!
